Dr. Kirk Prince attended Washington State University and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 1987. Following graduation, he joined his father in practice in rural southern Alberta where he gained diverse experience working with small animals, wildlife, equine, buffalo, ostrich, llama, dairy and beef cattle, as well as swine and poultry production.
Following nine years of mixed practice, Dr. Prince and his family moved to Calgary, Alberta where he pursued his special interest in small animal primary care and surgery. In 1996, he became a partner in a busy clinic focused primarily on companion animals and exotics. Five years later, Dr. Prince opened another practice in the neighboring community of Airdrie, Alberta where he introduced laser surgery for pets to the prairie province. During his ten years there, he was also instrumental in organizing and providing humane society services and a spay/neuter program for stray animals in the region.
Having had enough of nine winter months annually, Dr. Prince and his wife next moved to Victoria, BC in 2010. There Dr. Prince led an animal health care team of over 75, including veterinary specialists, emergency doctors and support staff. His seven years managing Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital have prepared Dr. Prince well for his newest challenge here in Yuma.
Dr. Prince brings more than thirty years of practice ownership, management, medical and surgical experience in a variety of clinical settings to Foothills Animal Hospital. He is currently engaged in moving us forward with upgrades to our facility and equipment and is always striving to improve our level of patient care and client service.
